  • Predecessor of Lietuvos Draudimas – Lithuanian state insurance institution was established in February 1921;
  • In 1924 the Company functions and name was changed - it was called Lithuanian state insurance;
  • In 1940 after the Soviet government nationalized all the private insurance enterprises, the Company gained the monopole of the insurance services and became a constituent part of the state insurance institution;
  • In 1991 after the reestablishment of Lithuania’s independence the Company was registered as Lithuanian state insurance institution and became the biggest provider of the insurance services in the Baltic countries;
  • In 1994 30% of the Company was privatized by officially signing the shares;
  • In 1996 State insurance institution was reorganized into AB Lietuvos Draudimas;
  • In 1997 AB Lietuvos Draudimas’ shares were sold in the National Stock Exchange;
  • In 1997 having acquired two insurance companies UAB "Draudimo fondas" and UAB "Vaidra", the first company became UAB "Lietuvos draudimas" Life insurance, the second - UAB "Lietuvos draudimas" Credit Insurance;
  • On 11 June 1999 the Government of the Republic of Lithuania transferred 70% of the Company’s shares to the strategic investor Codan, which belongs to the worldwide insurance group Royal & SunAlliance;
  • In November 1999 Lietuvos Draudimas obtained 60 million LTL issuing new shares and selling them to Codan;
  • In the end of 1999 Codan sold part of the shares to European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and Investment Fund for Central and Eastern Europe, keeping the controlling interest;
  • On 20 December 2000 AB Lietuvos Draudimas signed the contract with one of the most potential and one of the oldest European credit insurance companies "Hermes Kreditversicherungs-AG" (Germany) regarding the sales of 49% of the subsidiary company UAB "Lietuvos draudimas" Credit Insurance’ shares;
  • On 9 October 2003 AB Lietuvos Draudimas and AB "Hansabankas" signed 100% purchase – sale contract of  company UAB "Lietuvos draudimas" Life Insurance;
  • In July 2006 Danish insurance company Codan holding the largest part Lietuvos Draudimas’ portfolio of the shares, obtained the rest of the company shares from the other shareholders (European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and Investment Fund for Central and Eastern Europe) and increased their portfolio of shares to 99,9%.
